Could not ask for a better WWOOFing experience! I spent about a month on the farm. David and his family are very kind and take very good care of their volunteers. They have been working with international volunteer for many years. The food was good and I was given my own room and bathroom. I was never overworked. This was my first experience WWOOFing and it was a very postive one. Had a lot of good discussions with the family. They made me feel a part of their family in the short time I was there. I hope to come back and visit soon!

I was really excited when i planned my trip to tanzania and i didn´t knew what to excpect, because it was my first time in Africa. But i would never have excpected such an open and warm welcome like at Joseph´s place! From the first second´s it felt like a second home. I had not only the opportunity to experience the african life in it´s most authentic way, but also to make friends for life. We learned a lot about nature and plants working at the farm and experienced the life in Tanzania by going to church, cooking authentic meals with Flora and making amazing trips with Joseph and his family. We also had the opportunity to help teaching kids at the local school and play cardgames and football with Josephs and the neighbours kids in the afternoon. On the weekend we went to the national park, to the beach, to the museum, visiting the Maasai and a lot more! Thanks again to Joseph, who is really a special person with a big heart and his wonderful family for this amazing experience and hospitality, i will never forget this trip! Asante sana! Manuel

It was my first whoof experience and it was truly amazing. I wish I could have stayed longer. Joseph is someone that has a heart of gold and I spend such good time with him, his team and his family. He just became a friend. I had a room for myself, with mosquito net, and even WiFi when Joesph was at home. Flora, his wife, is very nice and cooks amazing food and very opens to teach you. I had the choice to work either in the fields for few hours in the morning or with the kids at school. Eventually, I feel like I spent more time having discussions with Joesph and enjoying life than working. I recommend 100% visiting Joesph and his family !

Staying with Joseph, his wife Flora, and their kids Ruth and Rieke was an unforgettable and heartwarming experience. From the first day, they welcomed us so warmly that I felt like part of their family. It’s a genuine local experience — Joseph includes you in his daily life, whether going to church, helping on the farm, or visiting friends. Cooking with Flora was a highlight — she’s an amazing cook. We often prepared Tanzanian meals together. After work, neighborhood kids came to play, and once a week the lively local market offered everything from fruits and spices to souvenirs. Ruth and Rieke are super polite, smart, and open-hearted, and Joseph’s friend Joshua always brought great energy and laughter. Farm work was enjoyable and never too hard — mostly planting or watering vegetables, always with time for breaks. Visiting the School was inspiring and full of smiles; we helped the kids with writing and counting and played together during breaks. I learned so much about Tanzanian life and culture and admired how calm and kind everyone was — I never once heard anyone get angry. Weekends were something special — I won’t spoil too much, but let’s just say: safari! Joseph is open-minded, flexible, and always happy to make your ideas happen. If you love music, you’ll enjoy the local rehearsals and beautiful live music at church. Thank you, Joseph, Flora, Ruth, and Rieke, for this unforgettable time. I’ll never forget you and will always keep you close to my heart.

Where to start about this magical time? We had never been to Tanzania before but Joseph and his family and team managed to make us feel right at home in just two weeks! From the day we arrived we were treated with the greatest hospitality we have ever experienced, Joseph helped with each and every concern. Our work consisted of helping at their small farm, but it didn't even feel like work because of all the fun we had! Eating sugarcane and coconut, telling stories and sharing ideas (the people at the farm have an exceptional mentality towards happiness and helping, we learnt a lot!). We felt that every idea of ours was appreciated! At home, we relaxed or sometimes helped washing the dishes or we accompanied Joseph's wife Flora to the market where she patiently helped buy souvenirs. :) Also we shopped for the meals we shared everyday, which were the best meals we ever had... A few times Flora even taught us how to prepare some things. She is the most lovely and talented woman ever!! And don't even get us started on their wonderful daughters - we still miss them so much as we played rounds and rounds of UNO and got our hair dressed :) Joseph, you made so many of our dreams come true. From the safari to your orphanage project to the excursion to Dar - you were the best host we could ask for and your family became our family. We love you all so much! Asante sana!

We stayed as a family with Lilian and Abel and had a great time. In fact, we ended up staying a few days longer than planned. Both of our kids were able to contribute in some ways to the work and enjoyed their experiences immensely. We were able to stay at the family home and got to work by car with Abel or by bus with Lilian. We always had meals together with the family (and other volunteers). We even had some spontaneous dance sessions :-). Work was varied and we usually could choose if we wanted to work at the school or in the garden. Everyone and especially the kids at the school were very welcoming; our son became good friends with Lilian and Abel’s son, which was lovely. Abel also helped us to organise a safari over the weekend and to discover the sights in the area (he also runs a tour company, so can organise tours to places you want to see). All in all - I think we will be back!

My daughter Emily and I spent one month at Tumaini Foundation, and it was a life-changing experience. We arrived in the late evening to a heartfelt welcome song from the children and a communal meal. Our month was spent playing with the children and preparing them for the new school year, looking after the little ones, accompanying Daniel - the social worker - to home visits, and going to the market in Dodoma. We also got to visit Tumaini's new special-needs school a couple hours drive away, where we set up a sensory room and did some wall stencils. Towards the end of our stay, when many of the children had gone back to school, we had time to ourselves to refresh the Tumaini Foundation website and do some fundraising activities. We finished our time in Tanzania with a short safari with Tumaini, which was fabulous. As others have said, you really must love children to volunteer at the foundation. It can be noisy and full-on, but if you adore children, then this is the place for you! Thank you, Tumaini, for making us feel like part of your extended family. We are already planning our next visit!

I had such a great time volunteering with Kyosei foundation. They made sure to help me feel as comfortable as possible and Steven was very accommodating. All of the kids are stars and deserve any help they get. It was a brilliant experience that anybody could find value in.

It was my first time spending three weeks in Tanzania, so I had many worries — about my health, safety, and more. But everything turned out fine because the host family always cared for us volunteers. My host family was kind and warm, and Steven’s wife’s cooking was delicious. I truly loved staying there. Their children were very cute and spoke English well. I came to love this family very much. On weekdays, I went to the Kyosei Foundation. I helped with fundraising, farming, and cooking, and sometimes taught Japanese language and culture. The students were curious and full of energy. Spending time with them was an unforgettable experience. The teachers were also kind and wonderful. I’m not confident in English, but the teachers helped me a lot, so I was able to manage the lessons. On weekends, Steven’s sister took me to visit local places. She was cheerful and kind, and I felt very safe with her. During this WWOOFing experience, I helped more with cooking than farming, because I’m a nutritionist in Japan and was interested in preparing breakfast and lunch. They made a schedule that matched my interests. If you have passion, you can try many different things here. One small regret is that I didn’t prepare enough for the Japanese lessons. I didn’t expect to teach so many times, so some of my lessons weren’t fully prepared. Finally, thank you very much, Steven, for all your help. I’m truly happy I met you, and I hope we can meet again someday.

I had an absolute awesome time at the Tumaini foundation. Madam Tumaini, Issac and her team were exceptional in all aspects of hospitality. They made me feel like part of the team, I was included into almost every activity and I settled easily into the community. The children are so wonderful, kind, loving and helpful, they are a reflection of Madam Tumaini and her team. I had so much fun helpjng out that I wish I had stayed longer as I was just beginning to bond with all the lovely children. I definitely will return sometime soon to get to know everyone on a better level. Thank you Issac for introducing me to the foundation, it was a real eye opening experience that has significantly changed my perspective in life.

Robart, Nitike, and their family were very welcoming. They made their home like a second home for me. I enjoyed my time there and was very happy that I could help out with fundraising for the Risen Daycare bathroom. I was also able to teach some healthcare to the teachers with first aid donations from back home. I had a really good time here and I am glad I was able to make a difference! Thank you Robart, Nitike, & family.
