Welcome to Mafinga! We are Robart and Nitike, 5 teachers. We have 4 children and live in the heart of a friendly community. Mafinga is a large town in southern Tanzania, and we live nearby but surronded by nature. You are so very welcome here and will feel at home right away. Our project is in its early stages. We have established a kindergarten serving the immediate community that includes children from all walks of life. We make sure to welcome children from vulnerable and low-income families and get and access education for their future. Meals are included for all the students. The school has grown rapidly and we continue to extend our vision as we have launched a second site in the rural countryside. One of our main goals is to raise awareness through education to help prevent the spread and to eradicate poverty. The new site is within 3 hectares of land where we have planted tomatoes, potatoes, beans, peas, and soon avocado trees. We've recently added some farm animals too. This is a new permaculture project that will continue to expand. Our intention is to use the food we grow in our meal program for the children, and sell excess to support the school. We have had many volunteers from around the world visit to support our projects over the years, and we love hosting! We want to share skills, experience and learn from each other about the latest developments in sustainability. Please don't hesitate to contact us in case of any question, to know if we catch up with your plans. We need help expanding and maintaining the gardens renovating and building new structures teaching the children creating art and murals on the walls And fundraising DURING THE FREE TIME you can have chance to visit Some touristic places here like, ...Ruaha National park, this is one of the biggest park in Africa with many animals ...Isimila stone age with Natural pillars ...Gangilonga-historical the speaking stone ..Kitanzini, ..Kalenga museums ...Igeleke paints.. the paints which exist a thousand of years All these list is found in the internet, you can have a look

Robart, Nitike, and their family were very welcoming. They made their home like a second home for me. I enjoyed my time there and was very happy that I could help out with fundraising for the Risen Daycare bathroom. I was also able to teach some healthcare to the teachers with first aid donations from back home. I had a really good time here and I am glad I was able to make a difference! Thank you Robart, Nitike, & family.

Dear Nitike and Robart, Thanks for the nice stay with you! I have learned a few words Swahili with you and your children and I have learned how to fundraise. Also thank you for organising Safari and visiting BOMA Museum, Ikelela paintings and Isimila. Those are beautiful, and historically important sids. You are kinde and welcoming family. Hope, hearing soon from you Marielena

We stayed in Mafinga for three weeks. Robart and Nitike welcomed us into their home and fully immersed us in their daily lives. It was our first time in Africa, so it took us a little while to adjust and get used to the lifestyle. Their project is exciting, and the school-farm is truly a beautiful place. A typical workday started with a 30-min walk to the farm after waking up, where we had breakfast with tea and bread. In the morning, we worked on the farm and then had lunch at the school, usually consisting of rice or ugali and beans. Our tasks included planting avocado trees, taking care of tomato plants, and weeding. The afternoons were always free, and in the evenings, we had dinner together with the family, eating meals prepared by them or by us. In the afternoons, we usually visited the Mafinga market with Robart or spent time at home with the children. Weekends were also free. On our first weekend, Robart took us to visit Isimila Stone Age Park and Igeleke Rock, both stunning places. On the second weekend, we went on a safari in Ruaha Park, and it was an amazing experience as well. This was our first WWOOFing, and we are very happy we came here because it was an emotionally rich journey. Thank you for welcoming us as part of your family, for all your kindness and hospitality. We hope to see you again in 2030! 😎

I had an amazing short stay with Robart and Nikite! Mafinga is a beautiful village, with an abundant natural environment and warm and welcoming people. Robart and Nikite were gracious hosts, taking care to provide for all needs, and making it easy to join into the family dynamics. The work was super rewarding. After a brief orientation, I was able to jump right into teaching lessons at the school and planting avocado trees. They have a great project that is clearly making a positive difference in their community. As my first time wwoofing, I enjoyed being outside all day appreciating nature, working hard while contributing to their project. I also learned a lot for a short time, with Robart and his farm helper Xaviour taking time to give clear instruction, while allowing me to go at my own pace and putting no pressure. Guests should be prepared that they will live in the local village lifestyle. It is a great lifestyle in my opinion. If coming from the West/urban environment with no prior exposure or Swahili language, there could be an adjustment period. Highly recommend to anyone — thank you Robart, Nikite and Mafinga. Wish I could have stayed longer and hope to return soon!

I really enjoyed my time at Robert and Nitike. I felt happy living in this family. I felt welcome and at home. I helped mainly at the farm and at the building site. At the farm we planted tomato’s and corn. Since it was school holiday I also got to spend a lot of time with the children which was very nice. They have a place in my heart. Communication went easy. I recommend volunteering at the Risen farm. There are a lot of possibilities for volunteers. There is always a nice project or job to do and Robert is full of exciting plans for the future. I wish you all the best in your projects. Karibu sana

What a amazing woofing I did in Mafinga with Robert family. Honestly all the expectations that we can have about a woofing experience is here. First of all, you are completely immerged in their family sharing their meal and their daily life with their four children. They give you a private room with all the necessities. But more than that, they take care about you with daily attention Secondly there is always work there so don't worry you're not gonna be bored but they let you choose your work time and don't put any pressure on you. When I was there, I helped a bit in their garden but I mainly help building the school by transporting water, brics or mixing the cement with the sand. Well I've learned a lot a thing about construction which was interesting. So thank you so much Robert and Nitike for all your kindness. I hope that a lot of volunteers will come to help you
